MY WORK EXPERIENCE

Explore My Work

Most of my professional career has been spent in the field of surgical robotics. This has exposed me to a broad set of challenges - concept development, detailed design, regulatory requirements and clinical deployment.

As a student I completed three, 6-month Co-op positions where I gained exposure to various industries and disciplines. Here, I developed my passion for engineering and gained invaluable experience.  

.I'm very proud to share my experiences and some of the projects that I've taken part in over the course of my academic and professional career. Please don't hesitate to ask questions and I hope you enjoy reading about my experiences half as much as I enjoyed gaining them.

VICARIOUS SURGICAL INC.

Senior Mechanical Engineer

(E-2, E-1, Co-op)

In 3.5 years of working at Vicarious Surgical, a growing surgical robotics start-up, I've acted as lead engineer on various subsystems and critical projects. There's no task too small or too big. 

I've primarily participated on two main teams: The Camera (disposable) & The Patient Cart (capital).

As an engineer designing the Patient Cart, I've overseen improvements to safety systems, regulatory compliance, test methodology and DFMEA evaluations. I've learned important skills regarding the development of capital medical technologies

For the Camera, I lead major efforts to make significant strides in both cost-reduction and manufacturability. Thermal control, joint dexterity and reliability, image quality and the development of a novel intra-abdominal lens wiping system are some of my favorite projects. 

Building a system that is capable of saving lives is extremely rewarding, and I'm extremely proud of the impact I've had.

BOSTON SCIENTIFIC

R&D Engineering Co-op, Endoscopy Division

My second Co-op experience was with Boston Scientific, a cutting-edge medical device company dedicated to making people's lives better. My work on the R&D team consisted of in-depth efforts to design test methods to evaluate a new endoscopic product which was under design. Work was extremely engaging and being able to say that my work would directly impact the health and well-being of others is a true honor.

WATERS CORPORATION

Mechanical Design Team, Liquid Chromatography Division

My first experience with real-world engineering came at Waters Corporation, a company aimed at the design and manufacturing of laboratory and research equipment. With an extremely bright and talented team by my side, I was able to gain exposure to various engineering disciplines such as mechanical, electrical and even chemical. I'm proud of my contribution to the company, specifically a thermistor-based leak sensor that is capable of reducing manufacturing costs and improving leak detection. This is an important part considering the extremely high fluid pressures experienced within the machines I was working with. My design not only improved the effectiveness of the machine but the safety of its user as well.
